土注入構法 Poured Earth Construction

土注入構法を専門としてやっているマイケル・フレーキングさんに会って、フレーキングさんの土注入構法で作られた個人住宅を見学しました。土注入構法は ＲＣ構法と似ていて液状の土を型枠に流します。現場の土の利用のため、遠くから骨材を運んで来なくてもすみます。版築より工期が短く、労働が少ないです。

Michael Frerking runs Living Systems, a design-build firm specializing in passive solar design and poured earth construction. Poured earth, sometimes called cast earth, is similar to concrete construction in that a mixture of aggregate and binder are poured into removable forms. Local soils can often be used and the amount of cement reduced compared to conventional concrete. In addition, it’s faster than rammed earth and requires less labor.

 セドナ市は赤土で有名です。

 

コサンティ Paolo Soleri’s COSANTI in Scottsdale, Arizona

Paolo Soleri was born in Turin, Italy in 1919, where he earned a degree in architecture. While in Italy, Paolo Soleri also studied ceramics and as an architect designed a ceramics factory which mirrored many Permaculture principles, such as efficient flow of materials and energy. He developed a silt cast technique for producing both windbells and architectural forms.

 コサンティはパオロ・ソレリ氏によって設立されました。ソレリ氏はイタリアに生まれ、建築と陶芸を勉強しました。パーマカルチャーの原理であるエネルギーと物質の流れを効率よくする原理に基づき、陶器工場を設計しました。ウィンドベルや建築物を成形するシルトキャスト方法を開発しました。

 

 

フランク・ロイド・ライトのタリエセン・ウェスト Frank Lloyd Wright’s TALIESIN WEST in Scottsdale, Arizona

 Much of the stone and sand used to create the walls were gathered from the surrounding desert by Wright’s apprentices.

 

ライト氏の弟子が壁になった石と砂を周辺の砂漠から拾ったそうです。

版築: ザ・ゲートウェイ Rammed Earth Architecture: The Gateway to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Scottsdale, Arizona

The Gateway incorporates numerous strategies for resource conservation. Ninety-five percent of the McDowell gateway’s 24-inch-thick rammed earth walls consist of soil salvaged from the site, combined with 5 percent Portland cement.  An 18 KW solar system generates as much solar electricity as the Gateway consumes to realize a ‘net zero’ of energy consumption. Up to 50,000 gallons of rainwater is harvested through roof collection and storage in an underground cistern–providing 100% of the water needed for landscape irrigation.

善了寺住職のひとりごと

10月26日以降横浜市戸塚区にある善了寺のストローベイル御堂のストローベイル壁の施工を担当しています。

善了寺の住職が戸塚区にある明治大学院大学の辻真一先生と一緒にカフェデラテラというNPOを設立しました。カフェ・デラ・テラ（café dela terra）とはイタリア語で「大地のカフェ」という意味ですが、大地のテラはお寺のテラでもあるんです。お寺というものが本来、人間界はもちろん、自然界とも分かちがたく結びついたエコロジー・センターである、という思い がそこに表現されています。また、お寺とは、元来、老若男女が階層や貧富の分け隔てなく、さらには生死の別さえ超えて集い合う場であり、だから、現代風に いえば、カフェのようなものにちがいない、という思いが込められています。カフェ・デラ・テラはエコロジカルでスピリチュアルで社会的なムーブメントです。

御堂を設計したのはスローデザイン研究会の大岩剛一先生です。24日間ワークショップ形式でストローベイル壁の工事を行いました。

基礎部分を内と外、二重に作り、その上に杉板を張って台にます。ここまでは大工さんの仕事です。

Bales are stacked on the outside of a conventional Japanese timber frame.

ベイルが木造の外側に積んであります。

A bamboo lattice is built on the interior side of the timber frame and straw bundles are stuffed in the gap between the bales and bamboo lattice. 

木造の内側に竹小舞をかけて、ベイルと竹小舞の隙間を藁の束で充填しました。

First, horizontal bamboo lath is attached to the posts.

先に割竹を横に張りました。

Next, vertical bamboo lath is hung.

次に割竹を縦に張って、棕櫚縄で編みました。これで十分きれいです。

Above the bale wall, rice hull charcoal is used for insulation.

ベイル壁の上に断熱材として籾殻燻炭を利用しています。

次に土と藁くずが混ぜた配合を手で塗って、平らな壁面を設けて、形を作ります。

A technique often used in earthen storehouse construction in Japan.

土蔵で利用されている樽巻を張りました。

中塗練習

さらにその上に、藁スサを少しだけ入れた土をコテで薄く塗り、きれいに整えていきます。

The final coat of the base coat is plaster with a soft steel trowel.

下塗の最終段階は鏝で壁面に土を塗ることです。聞思堂は円形の壁ですので、きれいなカーブが描けるよう注意しながら表面を整えていきました。

中塗がくっ付けしやすくため、櫛目を付けます。

The surface is scarred to provide a key for the brown coat.

表面が少し乾いたところで、コテの側面を使いギザギザの模様を付けていきます。土を塗り重ねるときに付きやすくするためです。




The exterior scratch coat is complete.
外装の下塗が完成。


藁スサを多めに入れ、よく混ぜた土を、竹小舞に手でしっかり塗りこんでいきます。

The interior scratch coat is plastered twice. 内装の下塗は2回塗りました。

鹿児島県喜界島から来てくださいました。
 

和歌山県でストローベイルハウスを建てる予定です。
